Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has obtained warrants for the arrest of Troy R. Rose, 26, of Newark.
Rose, who remains at large, is wanted for the murder of Shawn Miller, 20, of Newark. In addition to murder, Rose is charged unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Bail has been at $1 million.
Miller is one of three people killed in the predawn hours of July 5 in Newark. Miller was killed at approximately 12:55 am at 169 Elizabeth Avenue, a public housing complex where he lived. On the same day Marquis Robinson, 24, was killed in the 300 Block of Osborne Terrace on the front steps of his home and off-duty corrections officer Katrina Owens was killed on Columbia Avenue.
These charges are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they either plead guilty or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
