Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today Keevin David, 19, of Springfield has been arrested for the Jan. 25, 2011 murder of Tyrell Coleman, 18, of Orange.
Coleman died from multiple gunshot wounds. Around noon time on Jan. 25, 2011, he was found in the lobby of his apartment building located at 208 Center Street in Orange. He was pronounced dead a short time later at University Hospital.
Arrest warrants were issued yesterday for David. He was taken into custody late last night by detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Orange Police Department. David is currently being held in the Essex County Correctional Facility.
Bail was set at $500,000 by the Honorable Peter J. Vazquez, J.S.C. David’s first court appearance is expected to be scheduled for early next week.
The investigation, which is being conducted by the Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, is continuing.
These charges are accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless or until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law.
