Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today an Essex County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Howard Grant, 22, of Newark with the December 6, 2010 death of Sebastian Williams, 24, also of Newark.
Grant was indicted on aggravated manslaughter charges for fatally stabbing Williams. Grant was also indicted on two weapons offenses. The two men got into an argument that spilled out into the street and resulted in Grant stabbing Williams multiple times.
These charges are accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless or until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law.
