Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today Julio C. Gomezmarte, 45, of East Orange was arrested without incident at his home this morning and charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
At approximately 6:05 am detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit and East Orange Police Department executed a search warrant at Gomezmarte’s Rhode Island Avenue apartment. The officers discovered digital images and video of children under the age of 16 engaged in prohibited sex acts.
Gomezmarte is accused of possession of child pornography, a fourth degree crime; and distribution of child pornography, a second degree offense.
These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they plead guilty or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Acting Murray Prosecutor Murray commended Lieutenant Richard Gould of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Cyber Crimes Unit, the Essex County Cyber Crimes Task Force and the East Orange Police Department.
