On Friday, Dec. 8, ABC’s 20/20 will air an episode featuring Assistant Prosecutor Michele Miller, who tried the James Ray case. The show will air from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., and feature other assistant prosecutors and detectives from ECPO.
In May 2023, Ray was found guilty of murdering Angela Bledsoe, his live-in girlfriend and mother of his 6-year old daughter. Ray, a lawyer from Montclair, fled to Cuba after fatally shooting Bledsoe but was apprehended by Cuban authorities. See below for a preview of Friday’s episode:
For her work on the trial, Miller received the Outstanding Victim Advocacy in a Single Case award from the New Jersey County Prosecutors Association (CPANJ).
During CPANJ’s conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin presented the award to Miller, who earlier this year prosecuted one of the biggest cases of her 23-year career: Trying Ray for murdering Bledsoe. After six weeks of testimony, the jury deliberated for three hours before convicting Ray of murder.
“Every day, in each of our 21 county prosecutor’s offices, meaningful yet difficult work is taking place prosecuting unimaginable crimes to ensure bad actors are held accountable,” said Platkin. “It was my honor to recognize Assistant Prosecutor Miller for her tireless efforts to seek justice for Angela Bledsoe and her family.”
