Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that a 20-year-old Orange man was shot and killed.
The victim has been identified at Anthony Williams, 20, of Orange. He was fatally shot on the corner of Pierson and Hickory at approximately 11:36 p.m. He was transported to University Hospital in Newark. He was pronounced dead at 2:23 am.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is conducting an active and ongoing investigation. At this time no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
“The response from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, which includes personnel from the Orange Police Department, was exemplary. We hope it will result in a swift arrest and a successful conclusion to this case,” said Orange Police Director John Rappaport.
