Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino today announced that Markis Langley, 37, of Rahway was shot multiple times last night at approximately 7 p.m. as he entered his vehicle in front of 563 South 17th Street in Newark. His injuries were fatal.
Witnesses said a maroon vehicle with tinted windows, possibly a Subaru, pulled up, a hand came out of the passenger side and shots were fired.
The victim was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Next of kin have been notified. No other details are available at this time.
