Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today Anthony Rogers, 22, of Newark died today.
Rogers was shot multiple times on May 31 in Newark in the vicinity of 89 Littleton Avenue. He was transported to University Hospital where he remained until today when he was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force will handle the investigation.
Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio said, “The shooting has been actively under investigation since it occurred on May 31. Now that it is a homicide the Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force will take the lead in the investigation. By pooling our expertise and resources, we expect we will be able to hold the person responsible for this crime accountable.’’
