Today, at 4:45P.M. An off duty Newark officer shot a suspect who tried to rob him at gunpoint on Poe Avenue, in the City of Newark. The suspect fled and was found at East Orange General Hospital with a bullet wound to the chest. He is listed in critical condition.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Police Department are investigating.
