Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that Jennifer Lubisco, 33, of Millburn has been charged with third degree theft.
Lubisco, who has been employed by the city of Millburn for seven years as a customer service representative for the Recreation Department, was charged today with stealing in excess of $500 from the municipality.
An internal audit revealed that between January 2011 and August 2012 approximately $8,000 was missing, according to Assistant Prosecutor Sahil Kabse.
Lubisco was issued a summons and released. She has been given a court date of April 18, 2013 at 9:00am.
“Public service is always a position of trust. Any violation of that trust is taken seriously by this Office,” said Acting Prosecutor Murray, who commended Det. Alissa Vinci of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Millburn Lieutenant Keith Laverty for their work on this case.
If convicted, Lubisco faces up to five years in New Jersey State Prison.
These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
