Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino today announced that Michael Davis, 33, of Newark was fatally shot on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at approximately 12 midnight. He died from his injuries on Sunday, May 16, 2010.
Newark Police responded to a report of shots fired. When they arrived on the scene they found Davis suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Davis was apparently shot in the 500 block of Hunterdon but collapsed in the 600 block of Bergen Street. He was transported to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he was pronounced dead.
No other details are available at this time. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is continuing to investigate the homicide.
