Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino today announced that Quincy Green, 36, of Irvington has been indicted for the murder of 62-year-old Victor Petsch, also of Irvington.
Between Aug. 24 and 26, 1999, Petsch was stabbed to death during the course of an armed robbery. The victim was found on the second floor of his one-family home on Smith Street in Irvington on Aug. 26, 1999. He had sustained 89 stab wounds. He also had head trauma apparently caused by being attacked with a clock.
With no eyewitnesses, the case remained unsolved for many years until a DNA hit on blood found on the molding came back to Quincy Green, also know as Quintan Barr. In addition to being charged with murder, Green was also indicted on felony murder, robbery, burglary, and weapons charges.
Acting Prosecutor Laurino commended Assistant Prosecutor Harry Moskowitz and Det. Holt Walker.
Green is scheduled to be arraigned on July 6 before the Honorable Peter Vazquez.
