Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that a Linden man sustained fatal injuries in a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of Route 1 and 9 in Newark.
The victim has been identified as Marcin Kotowski, 21, of Linden. The collision occurred at approximately 1:08 am. Kotowski and three other individuals were riding motorcycles southbound on Route 1, near the Budweiser’s Anheuser-Busch plant. Kotowski lost control of his bike. A motorcycle driven by a 21-year-old Linden female hit Kotowski. The drivers of the other two motorcycles were able to stop without hitting anyone.
The female sustained what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Both she and Kotowski were transported to University Hospital in Newark. He was pronounced dead at 1:27 a.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing. It is being conducted by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force.
