Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that an Essex County Grand Jury returned an 18-count indictment against Millburn Fire Inspector Peter Dicostanzo, 40, and his wife Angela Discostanzo, 35.
The indictment charges the Nutley couple with theft, forgery, and misapplication of entrusted funds for the unauthorized use of money and the sale of jewelry belonging to Mr. Dicostanzo’s grandmother.
Following the death of his grandfather in 2010, Mr. Dicostanzo was given power of attorney for his grandmother, after which he made more than $150,000 in unauthorized withdrawals from her bank accounts and received over $15,000 from the unauthorized sale of her jewelry.
Both are scheduled to make their first court appearance before the Honorable Michael L. Ravin, J.S.C. on May 31 at 9 a.m.
These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they plea guilty or found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
