Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that an Essex County Grand Jury indicted Khalid Khan, 43, of Bloomfield for the murder of his estranged wife Shazmina Khan, 31, of Montclair.
The indictment alleges Ms. Khan was fatally stabbed in her Montclair home on July 3, 2011. The four-count indictment also charges the defendant with two weapons offenses and endangering the welfare of a child.
The defendant remains incarcerated at the Essex County Correctional Facility. Bail is currently set at $750,000. Arraignment on the charges in the indictment is scheduled for April 17, before the Honorable Peter J. Vazquez, J.S.C.
