Acting Prosecutor Robert Laurino today announced a string of arrests in connection with the shooting death of Wilkerson Jean-Baptiste, age 19, of Irvington, New Jersey. He was shot in his home December 4, 2009, in Irvington.
Tourrie Moses, age 19, of Montclair was arrested on January 17, 2010; Robert Morton, age 21, of Montclair was arrested on January 22, 2010; Matthew Pickett, age 20, of Irvington was arrested on January 25, 2010 and Rashawan Williams, age 20 was arrested today. All four defendants were charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder and weapon offenses.
In an another incident defendant Tourrie Moses was also charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses in connection with a shooting which occurred in Montclair on December 25, 2009.
Acting Prosecutor Laurino credits the success of these investigations to the cooperative efforts of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Squad, the Montclair and Irvington Police Departments, Detective Holt Walker of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit, Detectives Charles Cunningham and Joseph Anderson of the Montclair Police Department and Detective Charles Hutchinson of the Irvington Police Department.
