Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that an 88-year-old Irvington woman was killed in her home.
The victim has been identified as Casetta Blunt, 88, of Campfield Street. She was discovered in her home shortly after midnight and pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is pending autopsy.
Next of kin have been notified.
“The crime does not appear to be related to any ongoing crime issues at this time,’’ said Irvington Police Director Joseph Santiago.
An active and ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force. No arrests have been made at this time. No suspects have been identified.
