Acting Prosecutor Laurino announced late today that the investigation into the death of Robert Nevius, 91, of Essex Fells is ongoing.
At this point we would urge the public to be vigilant and report to the Essex Fells Police Department any suspicious activity.
We will make more details available tomorrow after the autopsy is completed. In the meantime we can say that our preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Nevius was home alone at the time of his death and his residence was ransacked. There appears to be no evidence of forced entry.
Mr. Nevius lived at the address for 50 years. He is married.
