Dr. Vincent L. Stallings, Principal of the East Orange Stem Academy:
“Prosecutor Stephens and Chief McGuire spoke to a large group of students in our middle and high school. It’s important that this population of students has a chance to engage with professionals who look like them and are from the same community. Prosecutor Stephens engaged with them at a high level, discussing the importance of education.
Chief McGuire also gave an exciting presentation, talking about staying the course while not being afraid to fail. The students were engaged and participated in the discussions, and many are interested in careers in law enforcement.
There is crime in our community, however our students, both males and females, see themselves as change agents, and also desire an opportunity to protect and serve their community. That’s why it was good to have the prosecutor and the chief remind them of the many opportunities that education leads to.
