Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced today that Heather Kulzy, 27, of Nutley has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after running her husband down last night at approximately 9:30 p.m. when the two got into an argument outside their home.
Mrs. Kulzy was also charged with two weapons offenses. In this case, the weapon was the family car, a Kia.
Her husband, Anthony Kulzy, 31, also of Nutley was rushed to University Hospital in Newark where he was originally believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries. However, he released from the hospital today. Mrs. Kulzy was also taken to University Hospital, where she remains under police guard. She sustained minor lacerations.
Kulzy resigned from the Nutley Police Department about two weeks ago.
The incident is being investigated by the Nutley Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
No other information is available at this time.
These charges are mere accusations. A defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
