Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced today that Luis A. Vazquez, 20, of Newark was arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, specifically by distributing child pornography, a 2nd degree crime and by possessing child pornography, a 4th degree crime.
Following the execution of a search warrant at his residence, Vazquez was arrested and charged.
Today’s arrest resulted from an investigation conducted by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit. The investigation revealed Vazquez was distributing child pornography over the Internet, said Assistant Prosecutor Deborah Freier.
Acting Prosecutor Laurino commended the work of Assistant Prosecutor Freier, Lieutenant Richard Gould and Detectives Michele Bolan, Jose Ramirez, Ryan Maguire and Guy Trogani.
These charges are mere accusations. A defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
