Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced today that the second suspect in the Maplewood homicide of Victoria Carmen White turned himself in to the 4th Precinct of the Newark Police Department.
Alrashim Chambers, 23, of Newark walked into a police station and surrendered to Newark Police late Sunday night. He was taken into custody without incident. Today he was transferred to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, where he is being held on $1 million bail.
Chambers and Marquise Foster, 25, of North Plainfield have been charged with the murder of Ms. White, 28, of Newark.
Foster surrendered with an attorney on Saturday night to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office in Newark. The court date for their first appearance has not be set yet.
These are mere accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are found guilty in a court of law.
