Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced that two men were fatally shot at approximately 1:30 a.m. today. They have been identified as Alduha Davis, 38, of Elizabeth and Shareef Burton, 32, of Hillside.
The two men were shot at 117 Ridgewood Avenue in Newark as they were leaving or going to a local chicken restaurant. Police officers from the Newark Police Department responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call. They discovered the men with gunshot wounds. The two were transported to University Hospital where they were both pronounced dead.
The next of kin have been notified. The investigation continues.
