Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced that Andre Austin, 23, of East Orange was found by Newark Police dead in the driver’s seat of a car on Tremont Avenue in Newark at approximately 3 a.m. today. Austin had been shot in the chest.
A female passenger was in the vehicle with Austin. She was uninjured.
Newark Police responded to a shots fired call. When they arrived at the scene they found the man dead in the driver’s seat of a vehicle of an apparent gun shot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is continuing.
