Newark Man Pleads Guilty to Kidnapping and Aggravated Sexual Assault
Newark — Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that Hakim Y. Jones, 24, of Newark pled guilty before the Honorable Verna Leath, Judge of the Superior Court.
Jones pled guilty to kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault of three different women. Specifically, he pled to three counts of 1st degree kidnapping and six counts of 1st degree aggravated sexual assault in exchange for a recommended sentence of 25 years in New Jersey State Prison. Under the terms of the plea he must serve 85 percent of the 25-year sentence before he is eligible for parole.
These crimes occurred over a 10-day period between March 5, 2013 and March 15, 2013, according to Assistant Prosecutor Kelly Sandlers who is handling the case.
Jones is scheduled is to be sentenced on April 6, 2015. In 2011 he was convicted of receiving stolen property and resisting arrest. He was on probation at the time he committed the aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping.
