Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and East Orange Police Chief William Robinson announced today that the three people killed Wednesday in a motor vehicle collision on South Grove Street near the intersection of Central Avenue in East Orange, at approximately 8:50 p.m., have been identified.
They are: Tyrief A. Parker, 24, of East Orange; Kabeer K. Bishop, 20, of Newark and Dean Scovil, 24, of East Orange. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was blunt impact injuries. The three young men, who were in a Nissan Maxima, collided with a Toyota 4-Runner.
The two women in the Toyota 4-Runner are a 74-year-old mother and her 54-year-old daughter. Both women are from Irvington. They were transported to University Hospital and are expected to survive their injuries. Their names are not being released at this time. The 54-year-old daughter has been released from the hospital. Her mother remains hospitalized.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Vehicular Homicide Unit of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit.
The investigation is continuing. No charges have been filed at this time, according to Fennelly.
