The Special Prosecution Unit is a subdivision of the Major Crimes Section of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. The Unit focuses primarily on shooting, carjacking, and intelligence-based investigations.  Additionally, the Unit provides police legal assistance to all of the municipalities within the county while also partnering with other law enforcement agencies to develop new models to enhance our investigative capacity.
