Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced today the arrest of Terrance Moore, 19, of Newark on a complaint charging him with six counts of aggravated assault.
On April 13, 2010, Moore allegedly was the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu that hit six teens, critically injuring two, on North Oraton Parkway in East Orange.
At approximately 2:55 p.m. Moore allegedly struck six teenagers and fled the scene. Two of the victims Sherrod Hill, 17, and Tyreek Smith, 17, were rushed to the hospital where they remain in critical condition. Four other teens were taken to East Orange General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. They were treated and released.
Moore was arrested at approximately 6 p.m. on April 13, 2010. The investigation continues. It is being handled by the East Orange Police Department and Det. Vincent Nardone of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Vehicle Homicide Unit. Anyone with information should contact Det. Nardone at 973-395-3482.
Not withstanding the charges, every defendant is presumed innocent unless he pleads guilty or is found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
