Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced today that Tysheed R. White, 18, of East Orange has been charged with aggravated manslaughter in connection with the death of James Gadie, 22, of Newark.

Both men were inmates at the Essex County Correctional Facility. The preliminary investigation indicates the cellmates got into a fight yesterday evening. Corrections officers found Gadie unresponsive. He was pronounced dead in the jail infirmary at approximately 6:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17. 2010.

Today, White was charged with aggravated manslaughter. The Honorable Judge Peter Vazquez set bail at $200,000.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No other information is available at this time.

The charges are mere accusations. All defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until they are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
