Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that Tray Barnard, 32, was arrested for possession and distribution of child pornography.

Barnard, of East Orange, is a substitute teacher in Newark and has most recently taught at Weequahic High School.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit and Cyber Crimes Task Force conducted a peer-to-peer investigation with cyber crimes detectives in Ohio leading to the execution of a search warrant of the suspect’s home. Images and videos were confiscated by law enforcement.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent until they plead guilty or are found guilty in a court of law.
