The defendant’s 39-year-old husband had moved out of the house and was living in Irvington when Jean-Francois confronted him and stabbed him multiple times on Oct. 1, 2009.

The trial started on June 19 before the Honorable Martin G. Cronin, J.S.C. Testimony ended on June 21. The jury deliberated for approximately eight hours over three days before reaching a verdict late yesterday.

Despite having asked her husband to move out of the house, Jean-Francois went to the place where he was living and banged on the door for more than an hour and fifteen minutes, demanding to see him. When he opened the door she stabbed him four times with a kitchen knife, according to Assistant Prosecutor Dawn Scott, who tried the case.

“This was a woman who would not be ignored. She could not accept the fact that the relationship was over and the jury clearly saw that and found her guilty of aggravated assault,’’ Assistant Prosecutor Scott added.
