Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel A. DeMaio announced today that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jihad Latham, 20, of Newark.

Latham is wanted for New Year’s Eve murder of Efrahim Kinchen, 20, of Newark. In addition to shooting Kinchen, Latham is charged with shooting a 33-year-old female who survived. The shooting occurred at Broad and South Streets in Newark at 1:22 p.m. An arrest warrant was issued on Feb. 1. Bail was set at $1 million.
