Murray announced today that Jennifer A. Heiner-Pisano, 28, of Rutherford entered a guilty plea today to before the Honorable Judge Peter V. Ryan, J.S.C.

Heiner-Pisano pleaded guilty to forgery, falsifying bank records and misapplying entrusted clients’ funds.

From July 2012 through September 2012, Heiner-Pisano carried out a scheme that involved falsifying bank statements in order to obtain a mortgage, using $5,000 clients’ funds to pay her rent, and falsifying an $87,000 bank wire transfer form submitted when she closed on her home, according to Deputy Chief Assistant Prosecutor Walter Dirkin, who handled the case.

As part of a negotiated plea, she admitted her involvement in exchange for a non-custodial term. She is expected to be under parole supervision for up to five years. Heiner-Pisano is scheduled to be sentenced on April 19, 2013 by Judge Ryan.

“This was not a minor ethical lapse by an attorney. Ms. Heiner-Pisano engaged in a pattern theft and fraudulent activity. She preyed upon the trust and responsibility given to her by virtue of her profession,” said Deputy Chief Assistant Prosecutor Dirkin.

Deputy Chief Assistant Prosecutor Dirkin commended Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Det. Michael DiPrimo for his work on the case.
