Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino today announced Eric K. Warugongo, 35, of Clark was arrested for possession of 518 oxycodone tablets.

Detectives received a tip that Warugongo, a native of Kenya, was distributing narcotics at the Pathmark on Lyons Avenue in Irvington. They seized a 1994 Cadillac and discovered the narcotics.

An additional 225 tablets, $2,600 in cash and multiple identification documents were discovered when officers subsequently searched Warugongo’s home on Lexington Blvd. in Clark.

Warugongo is being held on $150,000 bail at the Essex County Correctional Facility.

Acting Prosecutor Laurino commended Detectives Joseph DiLauri and Robert O’Neal who handled the investigation.

These charges are mere accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless or until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law.
